As I’m struggling a lot with land physiotherapy, we’ve decided 4 sessions of hydrotherapy might be the answer. As the weight will be supported by the water, making it easier to do certain leg raises, and hip flexion exercises.
The warmth of the pool and heavy chlorine means you can do things in the water you can’t on land, ie walk unaided. And it’s a good way to make progress in a short amount of time.
With the heavy chlorine in mind, I’ve had to shop for new swimwear, so I opted for a simple black swimming costume and black tankini.

These will be perfect for hydro and I can use them for wild swimming or dips in waterfalls afterwards too.

The exercises I had to do was
Walk up and down the pool X 4, side step ups X 20 reps, forward step ups X 20 reps, weighted with float hip flexion X 20 reps, hip abduction weighted with float X 20 reps, hip extension weighted with float X 20 reps.
Then it was Mini squats X 20 reps, hip bridges on an angle floating X 20 reps, straight leg push down with weighted float X 20 reps, hip abduction with weighted float X 20 reps, and Side steps up and down the pool X 6
Honestly I’m pooped!! But it felt good to be productive and supportive in the water. It feels good to actually get some good form and exercise in.
Roll on next week.
