It’s that time again, off to Micats to see the podiatrist, see what they can advise on. Thinking about taking my new walking boots to show him, how the insoles fit in.

I’m getting pretty comfortable in my 1.5cm insoles in my trainers, though I do wish they felt more cushioning underneath. But I’ve not worn the 2.5cm ones for longer than an hour at the moment, as last time it wrecked my back. So I’m doing it gently.

Taking my letter off the Registrar in with me, so he can see what the Consultant is thinking, and letting him know I had my CT Scan last week, may get results in 2 weeks time.

Well it all went PANTS as the car broke just as we were about to leave, so ended up with a telephone consultation. I read out the letter instead and we both agreed the wording was quite flippant and dismissive.

We’ve discussed the insoles and how hard they feel under the foot, so he’s posting out some green ones that are softer in nature to wear, and sending off a referral to the orthotics to have some moulded and especially made for extra comfort.

We also discussed how now the stem of the implant is 1year old and uncemented, the bone is growing through it, so surgical fixing isn’t really an option, and a smaller ball was tried the day I had my surgery which made it dislocate 5 times on the theatre table so that’s not an option. We think it’s a problem that sadly just has to be managed at this point.

For sandals and dress shoes I can obviously wear without insoles perhaps for short amount of times as no insole is going to fit inside them. Unless I try to have them built up externally.
