It’s been a few months since I last had a pair of compression gloves, and they’ve lost their pressure. As my steroid ( done 14 weeks ago this week)has no worn off entirely in the right hand, the braces are back. But at night time it’s easier (no velcro catching on bedding) to wear compression gloves.
I rang the OT up and arranged a new pair, was told off for losing my oval ring though, these suckers are hard to keep hold of I swear!! But they did send me one. Definitely think they should do nicer colours, but it sure does feel good to get that comforting pressure back again.

Still waiting for the date for surgery, I saw the consultant 9 weeks ago. So this means I can’t have another steroid injection as this would delay surgery. So while it’s not constant pain, I’m trying to be proactive in supporting the joint as best as I can. Left hand is marginally better and that’s the one we will operate on first, as it’s harder to inject. But I’m treating both hands with ibuprofen gel, gloves and braces to delay the return of full on pain.
The only bonus that comes from this pain, is you no longer get nervous about surgery. You are so desperate for the pain to end you’ll happily chop the hand off yourself especially at 3am in the morning, after yet another night of no sleep and your hand feeling like it’s being squeezed in a vice!!
