Friday 7th to Sunday 9th July 2023 Beacon Park Lichfield.

We are aiming to go Saturday as our friend is playing on the Saturday night, Thumpa, so off to grab some sunshine, excellent food and listen to some top music too.

Best laid plans and all that!! We were cursed with terrible weather, so we made food to take with us, some drinks and packed coats. Weather went from raging sunshine, too hot to cope, to sudden flash flooding, thunder and lightning!!

We arrived later than planned due to awful weather our end, and yet here it was so so HOT and sunny, but as it had been grey when we set off we forgot sunglasses 🤦🏻♀️ but had coats. Regretting our choices we wandered around, found a place to sit, listen to music while we ate our previously prepared at home Chicken Wrap and Scones. It was nice to bring our own food, as we didn’t fancy burgers this time. Didn’t really see any dessert sellers this time.

Coming up to tea time and we got into our tent to listen to Live and Let Rock, just sat outside for them, but as The Good Water was starting (a set before our reason to be there, our mate Thumpas set) we felt rain, and I knew it was going to be HEAVY storm rain, so we bustled inside, enjoyed the music and stayed dry.
While The Good Water had finished, the lightening had been scary, we heard an almighty bang! Was the generator blown, or had lightening struck? Absolutely scared and all nights and power went. At one point we were all just stood there not knowing what to do, rain was so heavy it causes flash floods. Some mentalist children were sliding in the rain and mud.

Thumpa’s set was incredible, it isn’t for everyone I understand that, but he’s the reason we visit the festival, we caught up with some old buddies, lovely to catch up and have some drum n bass tunes you can bop along too. Rain didn’t dampen this parade, roll on next year’s. Just as Thumpa had ended we popped into the main tent for the last 5 minutes of The Kubricks, a two step band. Incredible event and well organized.
