Following my incident, where I slid on mud and grabbed my husband’s arm, and slightly knocked the CMC joint backwards, I’ve done nothing but rest the hand. As honestly it’s hurt far more than I imagined it would from that knock.
No bruising but swollen around the MCP joint (looks like bottom of thumb) whereas CMC joint is at the wrist. This has impacted the strength of the pinch grip and squeeze.

At least it’s not getting worse, as then I would ring the surgeon for an emergency x-ray. Feels more soft tissue swelling type of aches, so icing, elevating, and resting.
Not rung the hospital about chasing up my right hand, as life is generally just getting in the way right now, and it’s nearly time to go away. So better to handle all of this first and have our time away, then come back refreshed and ready to chase them up.
Had to dig out my old splint, which helps keep it from being knocked especially at bedtime. And the opposite hand is back in a brace too 🤦🏻♀️🥺 but better to protect them now, while I can.
