I believe this is the end of the main story really for the left hand, it is doing well, healed fantastically and though some days it’s stiff, it’s pretty perfect too. Just exercises to keep trying, crafts to practice and gain flat hand on the floor strength

But the journey for the right hand is about to start, this week it was hospital day again, but as last week was the hip (😭) this week I see my hand surgeon, and make the plans for this dominant hand.

This was the last x-ray I had prior to my left hand surgery, so early Feb 2023?

As you can see it’s collapsed and not in a good position, unlike the other one, hence the change in surgery being offered, for this one we are doing a joint replacement instead of fusion. We discussed the MCP joint maybe needing to be fused. She also wants another surgeon with her. So to coordinate may take a bit longer, possible a 3 month wait. But this actually helps me a bit, gives me time to have the Psoas Hip Steroid injection, and intense hydro before taking my dominant hand out of action.

I did my Pre Op online (that’s new to me) had to scan a QR code and answer questions, I presume if any tests are needed I will be called in closer to the time. But this part is done and dusted and will cover me for 12 weeks.

This is a Pyrocarbon silicone CMC joint replacement, which is what is planned for me.

Nerve block planned once again, this time I will try and keep my podcast headphones in both ears, as I only used 1 headphone last time and I could hear it all (bone clipping, screws etc) Not looking forward to surgery, but sure am looking forward to being painted, especially as now this thumb is causing a lot of tennis elbow pain too, as compensation to loss of thumb strength.
