Monitoring the side effects and how long the pain relief lasts, along with exercise and physio of the Psoas.

Day 15 – woke feeling pretty good, considering we did both day 14 and 15 of yoga, the night before! Totalling 50mins of yoga in one go. I do have some aches but I never would have been able to do that prior to the injection. Especially as this is lunges, and warriors, hip bridges every day. I even sneezed the other day and no intense pain in the groin, where it usually pulls and sets off a huge flare!! Hope it stays this way. For the third day in a row, I fell asleep and had a danger nap. When it happened after the pre op on Monday I did think it obviously took it out of me. But the Tuesday one surprised me as I only went to the dentist. Today was weird, no reason to be this tired. I’ve been sleeping well, just not waking up like I have 😔 hence the quick 30mins danger naps.

Day 16 – Yesterday’s yoga we tried a low lunge which had a twist in it. Urgh my right (good) hip did not appreciate that, so I think I will stay in a lizard pose, and leave out the twist. So I had needed to nurse that hip with hot water bottles in the precious evening, and this morning also as the ache hadn’t really gone. Really resisted the nap I wanted to take! Mainly I spent the day doing household chores and mentally preparing for physio appointment tomorrow. Really cold today, so I really appreciated the hot water bottles for the hip and warmth 🥶

Day 17 – Physio day, mainly discussing what the plan of treatment is, and perhaps get hydro sessions booked in. So I’m unsure that will do will any exercises, but I’m going prepared for it at least. So trainers, leggings and hoodie. Super cold, hope the weather turns warmer soon, as it’s having a knock effect pain wise. I was signed up for Hydro to start on the 1st Feb, and in the meantime given a psoas stretch exercise to do 5 reps per day, each rep with a 30second hold.

Day 18 – It’s the weekend, I have jewellery supplies to play with so that will be my main focus of the day, and getting some batch cooking planning too. No more appointments now until Wednesday for dentist again next week. Which means I can really get stuck into these new exercises. Our yoga today had hip flexion in it, and I managed to hold it for 10 seconds X 3. Boy did it ache after that. Hopefully it’s a good ache though in the psoas.

Day 19 – Woke up absolutely fine, shocked after how achy I was in the evening. Been doing the new exercise as well, as given by the physiotherapist. And oddly it hurts more to have my psoas injected side with the knee bent, and pulled to the chest, waaayyy more than when I’m doing the extended leg this side, how bizarre. Hard to do, but needed. Doing both sides as well. Soon got out the massage gun to relieve the aches after done though, and nursed it with hot water bottle as well. Oooooft yoga day 20 on yoga with adriene Flow was super challenging too, maybe due to physio done earlier.

Day 20 – Got to admit I’m amazed at how quickly these 3 weeks have gone, even though we’ve had vehicle stresses, and been stuck indoors more. Helps to have daily yoga, and daily physio to occupy myself. I’ve been asked a few times if the surgeon plans to see me after this steroid and hydro, but I honestly don’t know. I probably should ring up and ask 🤦🏻♀️.
Need to organise the house and get stuff tidied up. So mostly that was our Monday, and assessing storm damage to the fence. Swiftly fixed by Mr Moon. I had a little play with making some earrings, I like to think it’s physio for the hands. Psoas thigh is feeling thicker than usual, think it’s from the extra physio and stretching I’m doing. No pain specifically in psoas, but aching in general especially my lower back.

Day 21 – Oooft thigh is feeling thick, swollen and sore. And it’s since I’ve added the Psoas Stretch 😭 do I carry on as planned and tell them on the 1st Feb? Or go to alternate days, to give it some rest time? I’m scared it’s already worn off and back to pain 😣😣😣😣😣. Had today off physio to see if I can settle it. I can honestly say it’s made my heart sink a bit, and I’m scared. Let’s see how it feels tomorrow and go from there. I’m sure if I asked the physio, they would say to continue exercises and take more pain meds. What would you do??? Weirdly it hurt doing the opposite side, so perhaps solely do the stretch on the left hip. Felt a lot better by the evening, used massage gun again, it’s really helping.
