I had my Psoas injected with Kenalog on 2nd Jan 2024, I’m journalling my side effects, pain relief, and physio journey. I start Hydro on 1st Feb. So far I’ve been doing Yoga with Adrienne Flow daily, as she does 30 days of yoga every January. And recently added the 1 psoas stretch given by physiotherapist.
Day 22 – After the flare up and panic after Psoas Physio Exercise, I stopped doing it both sides, and solely focused on the Left (injected) leg, So right knee to chest, and left leg extended flat on floor, and pushing the extended leg into the floor and hold for 30 seconds. This feels ok, did 5 reps. Had another Dentist appointment, which admits in the middle of the day, if feels like you can’t get much done. Which then with the physio hurting my psoas, it seems to flare up if I pull my left knee to chest. So for now I won’t do it. However I managed to get yoga done today too. Yoga was immensely hard tonight, and while I had to adapt, I still used the same muscles so I felt I gave me a good workout.

Day 23 – Wet rainy day, and I’ve barely slept. Kept coughing so ended up sleeping/ well trying too on the sofa at 3am. Full look energies 🌛🌝🌜 so I’ve took an easy day, to rest the flare up in psoas, and my knee after yoga. Well worth taking it gentle, as then you can do more quality physio. The flare I’d had has soon settled with the adjustment of not doing both sides, to using the massage gun, my best buy!! And to having time off when I’ve felt it’s needed it. Side note considering how much I was coughing in the night, I didn’t pull the psoas at all. Impressive ❤️

Day 24 – It’s Friday, I say that like I have places to go, or any social life 🤣🤣🤣🤣 weather is awful so it’s been nice to hibernate, and we have car issues, and various health issues too..so it’s staying in for now until things change. But this Friday marks a week since I had my Physio appointment and the stretch, and in that 7 days I’ve done it 5 days, so that is good. Next week it’s Hydro as well, so it will have a three prone attack, using these three ways of exercising. It takes all of my energy, but it’s worth the sacrifices. At least I have lots of books to read while I rest too. Today I actually felt stronger in the stretch. I liked that feeling.

Day 25 – Weekend has landed, zero plans. But last night’s yoga was so challenging, mainly for wrists, I’ve needed a good rest and hot water bottle day. I did have to not do the God Pose as my hips did not like my attempt, nor can I do side planks. Instead I did alternative positions, I’m not risking the psoas or dislocating the hip replacements. I did wake up with groin pain but in the ‘good’ hip, so it did give me an excuse to be slower and more restful today. A perfect chance to catch up with blogging too.

Day 26 – Sunday today, some more resting due to groin pain in the ‘good’ hip. But I did get my Psoas stretch done, which felt nice. Yoga today was a much more gentle and therefore more enjoyable. The back is super stiff, but hot water bottles and medical cannabis oil have helped. The weather plays up the back. Not managed to do both sides in the psoas stretch, I’m being cautious as I have no desire to flare anything.
Day 27 – It’s Monday a fresh week, and it’s been 2 weeks since my pre op for my hand. How time flies. Need to start finding my swimming gear today, and get it ready for Thursday. Quite excited for it. Have the dentist the same day too, I’m going to be knackered. I’m so relieved the side effects are all gone, no headaches, no red faces, no crying. And still amazing pain relief for that area. Mostly had to straighten my hair, find hydro gear, and daily household chores today. But I did my Physio and yoga of course, the 30days are so nearly finished, I need to find a new 30 days, as I don’t want it to stop. It’s a good habit to have. Did the left leg knee to chest and held for 30 seconds to get it used to being in that position, it really does not life it. Let’s see if this flares it up again, like last week?? Certainly hates it with a passion, only held the knee there for 30 seconds no opposing pushing down of the right leg though.

As it’s all settled and no side effects I will just update on my hydro sessions each week, rather than daily updates in a post. As now it’s much the same as the previous days.
