What a week it’s been since the first appointment. I was absolutely shattered and sore for days. I had thought the daily physio and yoga would have helped stamina and strength, but compared to hydro it’s a big fat NO. I’m 5 weeks post psoas steroid injection as well.

That said it’s not stopped me mostly from still doing physio and yoga, just had to adapt some moves that I felt too weak to be in, or cut down the time in a position. At least we still move. Though we also do rest too, had to miss a day here and there. A bit of balance.

Well it hadn’t until Wednesday!! When I did a simple Heel Slide in bed, to bring my knees up to my chest. Felt the left leg go a bit ODD, and sore. Put it down to moving a bit weirdly and rested most of the day. I followed it with some physio psoas stretch in the evening and I could feel it not only in the thigh/psoas area, but also in the groin. And it hurt to move, or lift the leg so I spent Wednesday night pretty fearful and dreading hydro. Obviously not dislocated but has something moved, or have a torn muscle, or trapped a nerve. Hope the swelling goes down 😭😭😭😭

And our new 30 days of yoga playlist is Move. Find it here on youtube

At least when I woke up on Thursday morning, pain had massively improved. So I feel a bit better going to hydro today. Questions I ask myself arriving at hydro is, Will I be floored afterwards like last week? I’ve cleared any to do activities afterwards, so if I am exhausted and bambi legged, I can get some quality rest in to recover. I barely feel recovered from last week, to be honest. But that warm water will be so welcoming.

Freezing outside, I couldn’t wait to warm up bones in the pool.

* Walk up and down the pool to warm up X 6 times

* Small squats X 10 reps

* Hip Abduction (standing) with resistance ring X 10 reps

* Hip Extension Backwards (standing) with resistance ring X 10 reps

* Hip Flexion (standing) with resistance ring X 10 reps

* Lunges on Step X 10 reps

* Step ups left leg up right leg down X 20 reps

* Hip Abduction (lying down) with resistance ring X 10 reps

* Hip Extension (lying down) with resistance ring X 10 reps

* Seated bicycle legs wearing flippers X 5mins

* Squat sideways walks up and down pool X 6 times

Told the physiotherapist what I had done to injure myself, and she confirmed what I thought, I’ve aggravated the Greater Trochanteric Bursa, and I need to let the swelling go down, reduce the exercises that I do daily, or how long I hold stretches. Which I certainly will do to ease the pains, as it’s so painful.

Got home from Hydro and as predicted I needed a nap afterwards, it just leaves me so unbelievably exhausted and sore. Thank goodness we batch cook sometimes, as I’m too tired and jelly legged to be standing up cooking.
