It’s now 18 weeks since the Right #Psoas Steroid injection as well, and this last week, we finally embarked on our first camping and walking trip, this will really put the hips and psoas to the test.
Been a huge gap in walking and camping, due to thumb surgery, I’m still in a cast now, so my walking stick and pole need to be in the opposite hand, which feels odd I must say. Mentally this camping trip is needed.

We decided Hackfall walks, a place we had been to, last year, walked around it pretty well, only a scary bit near the springs. This is was completely different, I felt so stiff in the back, the Left (Shorter leg and older replacement) feels like it’s taking all the weight, and is hurting accordingly. We did this on the Saturday.

Haven’t felt so bodily broken and waddled for ages, having a walking stick in the wrong hand isn’t helping at all. Makes the waddle worst. It’s like I’ve never had hip replacements painwise (thankfully NOT the Psoas area) and mobility wise. Going to have to work really hard at building my stamina up again, and strength. Even more so once the hand is free from the cast. Sunday we rested for the whole day and it did help a lot.

We ended up cutting out trip short, as I couldn’t get on top of the older replaced hip pain, and the back pain under control. Bare in mind this is with 3 tramadol, 1/2 morphine and 0.3ml of THC/CBD oil.
Monday we ended up packing up and coming home for real rest, instead of slogging away for another 2 to 3 days as planned. Usually I would absolutely drag myself through that. But I’m worried I’m actually doing more damage, so instead we decided to quit while it could be healed with a few days of hot water bottles and true resting. And aim to get out again when we can, to do what we had planned then instead.
By Tuesday I was feeling a lot less acute pain, now it’s the rolling gnawing pain of lower back pain. At least the initial hip pain has gone. What a difference hot water bottles and a supportive back on the bed makes.
Wednesday I’m starting to feel like I can walk again, but I know the back is still iffy. It’s 4 days since the walk, and only now can I start thinking of doing some physio exercises 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ one day out walking shouldn’t cost so many days in return!!😭😭😭😭
