Oooft I walked through my doorway, and I accidentally had my thumb facing outwards, and knocked the cmc fused thumb (the left which was done march 2023) and omg I couldn’t speak for a bit!! Thankfully ice, rest and ibuprofen Gel settled it down. Lesson learnt though!

Now I’ve finished the book nook, see Here and Here So I am hoping we can start doing yoga (as I had the book nook crafting in the same area) so this is going to challenge the hands and wrists, but mentally and physically I need a yoga routine. Though we are away soon so we can’t truly do it daily.

Forever trying to flex the top of the thumb. I may not be able to flex it as much but it’s an improvement, and I can touch the little finger base with it.

The blue egg and band are much easier now, so it’s more about strength than range of motion.
Looking forward to a week on holiday in the pool, which I will do some aqua therapy for both hands and hips. Doing push and pull actions under water will really help. Exercises performed in warm water have the added benefit of the water’s buoyancy to support your body which reduces the impact on joints. This support can help you perform an exercise that may be more difficult to complete on land.
Finger Spread
Begin with palms down, fingers relaxed and straight
Spread all fingers apart
Hold for a few seconds
Move fingers back to starting position
Repeat 2 – 3 times
Repeat with the right hand
See here, imagine it’s in water
Cat’s Claw
Begin with palms facing each other
Bend all fingers at the same time at your middle joint
Hold for a few seconds
Straighten fingers
Repeat 2 – 3 times
Finger Curl
Begin with palms facing each other
Bend fingers to create a loose fist
Hold for a few seconds
Straighten fingers
Repeat 2 – 3 times
Thumb Circles
Begin with palms down, fingers relaxed and straight
Draw circles clockwise with the tip of your thumbs
Switch direction drawing circles counter clockwise
Finger O
Begin with palms facing each other
Touch pointer finger to your thumb making an OK sign
Release back to starting position
Touch middle finger to thumb making an OK sign
Release fingers back to starting position
Continue with all fingers making the OK sign
All of these movements are great both on land dry, or in the water all supported.
