When life hands you lemons….

I’m hugely privileged to have rented our current home for 20yrs, and while it’s had its faults and leaks, mould too. It’s been home, I’ve seen my children grow up and move out of this nest. And grandchildren to come round and play in the same areas as their mum’s. It’s been a true home.

But it’s all coming to an end, we’ve been told he is selling and we have to move out, we have 18months notice, not sure if that’s better or worse?  Sometimes I compartmentalize things, but this has rocked me to my core. Once the sheer shock had subsided, the emotions really started up. The enormity of it all, we are seriously going to have to sell a lot of things to move, skip a lot too, and try to take as little as possible. A nightmare for people like us who are attached to our things.

So this is a new journey for this 48yr old, learning to de-attach emotionally from things, whittle it all down, while trying to find disability suitable accommodation to move too.

I’ve started to ring around housing association and councils, we’ve set up a vinted account to get some stuff listed to sell. And arranged some skip dates too, and charity drop offs. So while it’s been a huge shock, caused a lot of tears, I’m now coming to terms with it, and trying to see the positive to it all.

We all create clutter as the years go by and keep things for sentimental reasons, but maybe this is a chance to maybe get rid of stuff you no longer need. We had to do the same when we went from a four bedroomed house to a 2 bedroomed council flat due to changes in circumstances.

We felt exactly the same as you do now, you are not being overdramatic, you have had a solid floor taken away from you and are resting on a few floor beams.

You will get through this, the universe will provide.

On a more practical side, register with the council that you will be homeless, i work for a housing association and so this is happening a lot due to the changes Labour are putting in place, landlords are selling up as it will be easier.

Any advice i can give feel free to ask
