Calke Abbey is a Grade I listed country house near Ticknall, Derbyshire, England, in the care of the charitable National Trust. The site was an Augustinian priory from the 12th century until its dissolution by Henry VIII.

We visited the few rooms than are open, found all the tunnels and stayed for the Christmas lights.

The way the house changes in decor and atmosphere as you walk from the Nobel man’s area down to the butlers and servant quarters.

Dark tunnels were fun and scary to walk down, some had no light at all. We found the servant and gardeners tunnels.
