This year we are seeing in Yule with friends, good food, awesome company and lots of drinks. Just exactly how it would have been celebrated way way back when.

For other ways to celebrate, you can take in nature by going for a walk, forage Holly or a log to light candles on.

Make a simmer pot, with hot water orange slices, cinnamon sticks, bay leaves, rosemary, cloves, star anise and let it simmer the scent through the house. I also use the water as a cleansing cleaner too.

So Yule marks the longest night and shortest day, after this the wheel turns, and each night now will get a little shorter and shorter. It’s a beckoning in of Spring though it’s still at least 6 weeks before you see the first hints of that.

Once I started to divide up the Year in this way, the seasonal depression lessened it’s grip. Sometimes we need to retreat and rest and reset, winter is exactly for that, before we spring up anew with the strengthening sun.
