This week has flown by, and we are back at the Hospital already for a wound check. This is different from previous times, which was more 2 weeks after surgery.

I presume I will be put into a soft splint, seen as I have no bones I need to stabilise, as this is only metalwork and tendon release that’s been done. Having the big Thanos bandage off will be nice, though thankfully totally soft this time, and not as heavy as it was last year.
Finally the shoulder is settling down, and the canula hand (left hand) has also gone down from swelling and pain (always seem to get sore there from antibiotics, pain meds and water being flushed through veins)

Day 5 I had a beautiful painting and afternoon tea event for mothers day which was beautiful, but the afternoon I got scary chest pains, and being so close after surgery I was a bit panicked, so I went to A+E after ringing 111 for advice. Way more eventful day than I planned. Kept meds to a minimum mostly from stress and fear. But hand is feeling ok. Resting the rest of the evening.
Day 6 Back to the ROH for a wound check and bandage removal. Had to be there for 10am. First off let’s remove the bandage.

First look, As it gets cleaned and Surgeon pops in for a chat, discuss follow on care. No xray needed, and we decide I have a soft splint at home, so its merely dressed with a dressing. And I have 5 others to change it with.

Now to start gentle physio tomorrow. Took thc/cbd oil 0.15ml after at 12 midday as touching the thumb and it being cleaned does make it ache, but overall it’s pretty pain-free. However I’m sure pain will increase once movements start and trying to extend its range of movement. Now it’s free of the big bandage i instinctively go to use the hand as normal, but it’s a bit weak yet, its progress though.
Day 7 1 Week Post Op
Slept in the splint for added assurance while asleep, with me then removing it in the morning, so I get some time without it too. Slept OK, its improving now I can sleep on my side. Not sure if I have much more flex on the top joint which is a tad disappointing, but perhaps I’ll get more as the swelling goes down. Tramadol and Etoricoxib as my baseline meds for my other health issues. And so far that’s all I’ve needed since Sunday. Occasionally I use my thc/cbd oil 0.15ml around the day but that’s for my back and hips. The hand hasn’t warranted more meds. But I think once I start the physio and using it more I may need too.
