We went for a walk the other day, the weather was cold but dry, so it seemed the perfect opportunity to get some fresh air, and be around the trees.
My aim of the day was to ‘see’ the colour in the grey January day. So camera ready on my phone, I let the day and location speak to me.

Snow formation on branches, looks like a fungi taking over it. Super pretty though even though its technically not a colour.

This little guy followed us around all day, he was rewarded with seeds from us. A pop of red is always a delightful sight of colour on a wintery day.

Black bulgar
Bulgaria inquinans
Also known as: Rubber buttons, Poor man’s licorice, Black jelly drops, Bachelor’s buttons. This was a first time ever finding it.

Oakmoss
Evernia prunastri
Also known as: Ring lichen, Antlered perfume, Oakmoss lichen. One of my favourite mosses to find.

Rubbish photo but we saw young birds appearing already, and loads of mandarin ducks too, so hard to photograph, but at least the eyes got to feast.

Rugosa rose
Rosa rugosa
Also known as: Hedgebog rose, Beach rose, Saltspray rose, Letchberry, Potato rose. Even in winter they can have their own prettiness.
We even saw a Heron on the last stretch before getting to the car park, and lots of small birds like blue tits, wrens, and finches along with squirrels too.

Have to zoom in to find him.
