As ever #ADGIFTED in exchange for a blog post however all thoughts and opinions are my own. I only choose to read murder, detective style books with a dash of horror, life is too short to read things you don’t like.

MURDER BY THE SHORE
DETECTIVE SIV DRUMMOND IS BACK IN THIS GRIPPING NEW MURDER MYSTERY YOU WON’T BE ABLE TO PUT DOWN.

Welcome to Seascape house.
A beautiful family home by the coast. Where someone is hiding a terrible secret.
Lyra Pullman has been waiting for this day. Her fourth birthday party. But when her guests come knocking, she is nowhere to be found.
Little Lyra lies dead in the Wendy house at the bottom of the garden. Suffocated.
Her grandad couldn’t save her because he’s been murdered too. In a mess of blood and rainbow cake.
Lyra’s distraught parents turn to Detective Siv Drummond for answers. They point to a long list of suspects, from Lyra’s dangerously dysfunctional aunt to the stranger her grandad was meeting in secret.
But Siv is not convinced. Are Lyra’s parents telling her the whole truth?
Maybe life by the sea was as blissful as they want her to believe.
But what if they’re lying?
Perfect for fans of Joy Ellis, Jane Adams, Tana French, Liane Moriarty, Ruth Rendell or Rachel Caine.
MEET THE DETECTIVE
Detective Inspector Siv Drummond is widowed following a tragic accident involving her husband. With everything in London reminding her of the past, she moves from a high-profile squad with the Met to a new job as DI in her old hometown — sleepy, seaside Berminster. She’s still grieving and lonely, but she’s a fighter and she’s smart, which earns her the respect of her colleagues DS Ali Carlin and DC Patrick Hill, and the grudging approval of her DCI, who wants his protégé to get her job.

My Review I can recall reading this author at least once before, I think Death by the Thames which I thoroughly loved so much. Now I’ve had a few down days and this book was just the ticket, with the sun shining and light fizzy apreol cocktail in hand, I dive in. You best make a fort, and he comfy as I can assure you, once you open up and start you ain’t coming out of this story until you absolutely have too!!
The plot is everything! It’s so clever and well written. But TRIGGER WARNING it does involve children so if you aren’t comfortable with reading about child murders, give it a miss. A beautiful four year old is found in the Wendy house and bit by bit the guest at Seascape House have their secrets revealed one by one. How many dark secrets are lurking, come and find out.
Pull up a chair, grab snacks and a drink, pillows and a blanket. You’ll be here all day, ignoring chores and family trust me.
