After a few stresses over dates and NHS strikes, we are finally confirmed now for the 2nd March (before it previously was 28th Feb and then 1st March) I’ve now rung the admissions and confirmed the bed.

My notes say starved though I think I’m having a nerve block, but perhaps they want starved incase something dictates a change of plan, ie block not working like epidural doesn’t work on me.

Plan is to have a t-shirt with arm holes so big it will fit a large bandage, leggings, dressing gown and flossy shoes (slip on rubber sole pumps) I’ve removed toe nail polish, I don’t have false nails or polish on fingers, but if I did it’s time to remove them as well. I’ve also clipped all mails as short as possible too.

Emergency packing eye mask in case i have to stay over, toiletries bag, headphones, phone charger (extra extra long) toothbrush, paste, and lip balm.

I thankfully have some books on my phone too, so I can happily read them while waiting, as I’m usually called up last. I’m in at 7am but normally around late afternoon before I’m called. Just when you start to feel so hungry you feel you might pass out!! And being that hungry stops my fretting about the operation, as you get so eager to have it done, solely so you can have a coffee and some toast!!

So it’s 4 days and counting….. And from now I have to stop my Etoricoxib tablets as well.
