I feel like this hip replacement is dragging on, I’m still having issues in the lower back, and hip flexor area. The back is in pain 24/7 and I still struggle to lift the leg up. It’s now definitely at this stage beyond the ‘normal’ bounds of recovery. So please don’t think it will ever take you this long to heal, because it won’t. This leg is super complex, and maybe as good as it’s ever going to be.
Getting up and down off the floor is getting easier so I’ve been branching out with some exercises. Who knew you could really lose stamina and movement so fast recovering from an unrelated surgery?? My body is STIFF and seized up!

I go from using a resistance banded hip bridges to sometimes incorporating my bosu ball instead, to engage the core more. And to fool myself that I’m not just doing to same thing over and over.

Likewise I’m attempting to get good at single leg hip bridges, not as strong as I was before thumb surgery, but we are building up. Reps are low and counting to 3 seconds, eventually I’d like to get to 10 reps and 5 second hold.

I like to try and balance, as this is a challenge with one leg longer than the other. Forever hopeful I will get ‘used’ to it, or I can somehow cure my back pain (any tips gratefully received) trying not to use a hot water bottle due to toasted skin syndrome 🤦🏻♀️

Hip thrusts to help engage the glutes and strengthen them, always weak here and that then creates the Trendelenburg gait when I get tired. Really I’m learning that physio is a forever thing!!
