What a week this poor hand has been through, from packing and folding clothes, to loading up the car. Setting up a camp, to actually camping.

Swelling and pain was definitely forever present, I would say mostly due to not having hand as elevated as I would at home. And extra pains due to the extremely moist air, it played havoc on all my joints, especially my hips, back and hand. But I was also shocked at how much my changed sleeping position affected it too. It seems at home it’s naturally elevated and rested away from myself. But at camping, it dangled down more, harder to tuck away. I guess getting up off camping beds and camping chairs is more difficult, and therefore also put more strain on the hand too.

By the end of our weekend away Friday to Monday, the aches had really started to set in. I’ve had to increase my pain medication to dihydrocodeine to keep it under control. Still in my splint full time until I’m cleared. I tried wearing gloves to keep the hands warm as well which did help massively. Hopefully now I’m home I can elevate more and get the swelling down.
