Blogmas 2023 Christmas films

|

,

Even though channel 5 have already replaced my much beloved murder mysteries for Christmas films, I’ve not yet really watched any. And while I love some real cheesy ones, the main ones on channel 5 afternoons don’t cut it, they don’t have original ideas and plots so much.

But I did watch Jack Frost a fabulous favourite of ours on Sunday 27th so that is the one that’s started the seasons festive films. Jack Frost – A father who can’t keep his promises is killed in a car accident. One year later, he returns as a snowman who has the final chance to put things right with his son before he is gone forever.

On Netflix I started our main Christmas films journey on the 1st Dec, kicking it off with The Claus Family.

The Claus Family

After discovering his grandfather is Santa Claus, Jules has to help him deliver his presents all around the world. But Jules’ hatred for Christmas might make that more difficult than Santa thought.

It’s Dutch and I recommend you listen to it in the original language, as dubbed is always flat, emotionless and more distracting. But I do understand some can’t not dub them, and for this watch with Mr Moon we did dub it. I’m a regular European show watcher so I enjoy hearing the original voices, but it can be hard to read, especially if you are eating tea at the same time as watching 🤣🤣🤣🤣

The Claus Family 2

Santa’s one job? Deliver presents. But as Jules takes the reins from his Grandpa Noël, he receives a young girl’s letter with a special holiday wish.

Such a strong sequel, thoroughly enjoyed it. And why did I rewatch these two films, well because I saw they had dropped the 3rd film onto Netflix, so I had to rewatch and get myself updated, ready for the new one!

The Claus Family 3

The Claus Family 3 … When the delivery of presents goes wrong and Grandpa Noël gets in trouble, siblings Jules and Noor must work together to save Christmas.

Best Christmas ever. (Trigger warning as it has grief featured)

Every year at Christmas, Jackie sends a cocky newsletter to her friend Charlotte. Fate brings Charlotte to Jackie’s doorstep. As a result, Charlotte tries to prove that her friend’s life is not perfect.

A lot of mixed opinions online of this one. But I LOVED IT, daft, camp, cheesy but original and different and just exactly what I needed to kick start off the first Christmas week!! * (Though I put up a trigger warning for grief just in case it’s too much for you) *

A Madea Christmas

Madea accompanies Eileen to convince the latter’s daughter to come home for Christmas. Little do they know that the reason she hasn’t come home is because she has married a white man.

Confession I’ve never watched a Madea film before, though I’ve seen them advertised. So this is my first one and I enjoyed it to be honest. Would I make an evening movie watch of it, probably not, but while away some afternoon time it’s great and Tyler Perry is fabulous, and others that just wanted to giggle all the way through, looked like a hoot to film.

Thank you ! Someone else agrees with me with subtitles vs dubs . I can’t dubbed shows , whether they be anime or live action, I’ll just watch the show or movie in it’s native tongue lol also looks like a good christmas list !
