Songlight

Set in a post-apocalyptic future, Songlight is an extraordinary debut from a renowned screenwriter. A cinematic masterpiece in storytelling, the explosive first book in the Torch Trilogy – the hottest release of the decade!

They are hunting those who shine . . .

Don’t be deceived by Northaven’s prettiness, by its white-wash houses and sea views. Many of its townsfolk are ruthless hunters. They revile those who have developed songlight, the ability to connect telepathically with others. Friends, neighbours, family will turn on each other in an instant. Lark has lived in grave danger ever since her own songlight emerged. Then she encounters a young woman in peril, from a city far away. An extraordinary bond is forged. But when power is everything, how will they survive?

An extraordinary new trilogy from an award-winning, internationally acclaimed screenwriter, Songlight promises to set the world alight!

My Review I got this in the post, and it came with a postcard and on that, a Spotify playlist. Intrigued I had to discover what they had put together.

Sitting down I start the playlist and omg it’s so perfectly matched, each song marries up the emotions, the depth of the sea, and characters. It creates a wholly immersive experience and honestly every book should do this. It felt so different. I definitely got handmaids tale vibes throughout the story, the dilemmas of hiding who you truly are, being treated as less than human for something you are born with, or under the control of men are all topics we still live with in this day and age. We see the affects of propaganda and how it can skew people’s mind to behave cold and indifferent to people they’ve previously loved and treasured, to allow pain and suffering merely because they’ve been ‘told’ they are bad people. This book makes you feel it all, I laughed I cried, my heart ached. I am attached to these characters and I can’t wait for book two!!!!
