This year we didn’t book our usual Thornborough henge camp, and instead opted for Glastonbury and see how they celebrate Beltane.

We arrived Wednesday evening exhausted so needed a good sleep before May Day. Weather has been blazing hot which made everything nicer, everyone has been smiling and friendly, its been a true antidote to all the news and division in the world.

Thursday we visited  chalice well watched the live music, maypole dance and ate our lunch there, waited for the main procession carrying the other maypole lead by the Green men, and May King and Queen. Up to Bushy Coombe hill near the Tor.

We ended our may day with fish and chips, and slept so solidly after a long tiring day.

Friday we visited Dion Fortune grave and sat in the churchyard for a while, a slower pace today.

Saturday we found Gog & Magog

Known as the ‘Oaks of Avalon’, the two trees are said to be a traditional point of entry onto the island, and were also part of a ceremonial Druidic avenue of oak trees running towards the Tor and beyond. Sadly, Gog is now dead but his remains are still there. Magog is also close to the end of her life.

Sunday is our last day, but its Glastonbury dragons day, where the White and Red dragons battle to see who wins the season. We have seen these often at October time, never before at Beltane. So this is a treat.

Health wise I’m in agony even the extra meds aren’t helping now, its full on rest needed. So tried to take our last day easier, tried to seedragons fighting but its so crowded and packed. Made it to the beltane ritual at least.

Now for the epic body rest and travel home just after I’ve posted this. It’s been a true antidote to misery and worry for 4 days. So glad the sun came out, as its hid again now typically 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️😭
