If you like pokemon, and live near Burton on Trent you might enjoy this charming walk, that guides you around the river and some washlands to find the mythical critters.

Obviously its aimed at children and there’s no bigger child than me, of course we had to do it!! We downloaded the DES app and it comes with map of trail and you can hear their stories along the way.

Stop 1 Calendula = Brings sunshine wherever she goes and glides on a warm summer breeze, scattering pollen. Its petals can be used in soothing balms and comforting teas. And if a traveller ever loses their way, Calendula likes to help guide them home.

Stop 2 Cottono = Is as soft and fluffy as a little cloud. They drift through Burton, bringing comfort wherever they go. Its fluffy cotton can wrap around plants and animals to keep them safe and warm.

Stop 3 Wheator = Lives in golden fields swaying gently in the sunshine. They love warm days and fresh breezes. Along this river once stood a mill, used for cotton at first but later became a flour mill where grain was ground into flour. Where people would use it for their breads and baking.

Stop 4 Glauca = Lives on the dry stony ground, where other plants may struggle. It loves open spaces where the wind can rush past and make its love grassy blades shimmer and sway.

Stop 5 Trentor = Lives in the River Trent, gliding through the water with wishes and swirls of its colourful tail. It loves the splash of the current, the sparkle of the river in the sunshine and winding bends that twist and turn. Trentor is very well camouflaged and difficult to spot once in the river.

Stop 6 Daisy = Flits from flower to flower, scattering pollen as she goes. Loving the sunny days and gentle breezes and playing in long grasses. Wherever Daisy goes she makes the world feel a bit brighter.

Stop 7 Heuchera = Likes the cool shady places where other plants might not grow so easily. They are calm and quietly strong with leaves that change colour throughout the year.

Stop 8 Geranafin = He can be found where flowers bloom in bright cheerful colours and designs. He brings colour and happiness wherever he goes.

Stop 9 Mariglo = loves happy people, ornamental gardens where children play and gardeners plant, and petals dance in the wind.

Stop 10 Modwen = Glides quietly through Burtons waterways, where its peaceful, flowing down the river and feeling calm. Burton is linked to a lady called St Modwen who was special and kind.

Stop 11 Hopleaf = Lives in the wide open fields, where the sunshine is warm and the air smells wonderful. Hops are grown on tall wooden frames and when picked and packed carefully, they then become the towns famous beer.

Stop 12 Alaburton = Living deep in the ground, here the water is cool and trickles over creamy white stone surfaces. Here its quiet and everything is very very old.
